Gianni Notarianni’s paintings are a contemplative response to nature; his former life as a monk has helped him develop a reflective approach to his painting practice.
The artist’s work offers a meditative exploration of the transcendent as seen in the rhythms and pattern of the natural world. Passing through seasons and times of day, Notarianni also plays with both the micro and macro levels of landscape through the slow build up of marks, to create an experience of the sublime.
Gianni obtained a BFA from the University of Brighton and an MFA from the Slade School of Art in London. His current studio is in west London.
Gianni has recently exhibited work in the Royal Academy in London and Galleri Torekov, Sweden. He currently has a solo exhibition at Hawk and Hive in Andes, Catskills, NY, USA until 29th October.
